30 years in the making, Tamaki Māori Village is a leading force in tourism that pioneers and inspires through authentic and meaningful cultural experiences. Hosting your conference or event here offers a unique and stunning venue, with Tamaki Māori Village at the heart of 25 acres of lush forest landscape.

Discover our ancient forest village at Tawa-ngāhere–pā –where our land, our  people and our spirit come to life.

Tamaki Māori Village is located deep within a towering Tawa Forest. The breath of life (hongi), a warrior’s challenge (wero), the ancient Māori war dance (haka) – Tamaki Māori Village is an immersive and captivating venue like no other.

Professional local Māori chefs create delicacies infused with traditional flavours. Your event begins with copper pots filled with mussels steaming over open fires, or indigenous canapés. With fine New Zealand beer & wine on hand – the scene is set for a fabulous event ahead.

A setting this magical demands an exceptional menu. Years ago, our ancestors valued their delicacies – herbs, plants, fish, seafood, birds – and today is no different. Talented Rotorua chefs work their magic with beautifully fresh food, including wild pork, venison and lamb.

Our people have been cooking this way for centuries. Hot rocks are placed deep within an earthen pit, food is set on top and the hole is re-filled with soil. Steaming for up to four hours beneath the ground, the result is a delicious feast with a slightly smoked flavour.

Morning, daytime or evening events, intimate, gala or banquet options – the choice is yours to explore and create an unforgettable experience for your guests.
